MMHMM!

MMHMM!

Ever wonder what would happen if Loretta Lynn and Joan Jett somehow morphed into a lookalike duo of two talented hotties from Nashville, TN?

mmhmm — me too.

mmhmm is Willie Nelson’s Granddaughter Raelyn Nelson and her bandmate Hannah Fairlight, and they are a little bit rock n’ roll and a little bit Americana and a little bit pop and a little bit of funky folk and a whole lotta fun.

Raelyn is much more than the granddaughter of living legend, she also fronts the Raelyn Nelson band and is without a doubt blazing her own musical path. Hannah Fairlight originally from the Midwest, and now lives in Nashville, had a lead role on A&E’s Crazy Hearts: Nashville and played Veracity in the latest installment of the Pitch Perfect film series, she’s also released two solo EP’s.

Together, Raelyn and Hannah are sure to make waves with the sweet sounds on their new  self-titled debut. Playful, enchanting and spirited from the first note to the last. With a tell-all and attitude-filled songwriting approach and feisty personalities they are sure to crash through the stereotypes with two voices that blend perfectly together.

The duo opens the album with their take of “Let’s Get Together,” from the 1961 Disney film The Parent Trap, with an mmhmm twist of course. But it’s when the girls launch into their original material the real fun begins. Taking songwriting direction from real life happenings and mishaps.  “Aw Hell,” takes you on a journey into the day of a life lived and getting through the controlled chaos to do it again tomorrow, filled with sweet harmonies and soulful vocals.  “Number Song” is a lively rock number, while “Up In Smoke” is filled with sugary vocals. They even inject new life into REO Speedwagon’s “Take It On The Run” weird choice for a cover, yep… but they kill it.

mmhmm are edgy, charismatic and creating their own brand of Rootsy-Pop that’s soulful and filled with flavor.

The twosome are throwing one hell of a party, donned in daisy dukes and somebody’s Daddies chaps, (listen to the album and it will all make sense.)
