Anticipation runs very high as In This Moment prepares to release their 7th studio album, Mother, sometime this fall. They brought a new tour production and proceeded to dominate the Egyptian Room at Old National Center in Indianapolis Indiana. As the room darkens, the intensity and excitement is ramped up with spotlights swirling and sirens blaring behind their massive black curtain and then it drops, the cyro smoke blast and the haunting and rhythmic drum beats by the Blood Goddesses mesmerize concert goers as their opening cover, Fly Like an Eagle begins.
The dark ominous Salem MA town like background with intense fog, brilliant lighting and perfected sound quality transports you to this witching hour of storytelling. You are completely drawn in by the visuals of the stage and beautifully choreographed dances that tell each songs full story. Frontwoman, Maria Brink is a beautiful, magical and enchanting Goddess who vocally is one of the top females in the business. She is able to belt out proficient screams that captivate and leave concert fans in awe of her abilities. Surrounded by her 3 Blood Goddesses, Brink commands your attention and affirmation as each song is magically brought to life with mystical dance and visual art. The music is driven by the insanely talented ‘dirty gentlemen’ of In This Moment. They showcase those talents with their ‘Monster Jam’ mid way through the set which begins with Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ cover, followed by their individual introductions and culminating with a blistering, face melting jam session. The dirty gents are co-founder, Chris ‘The Beast’ Howorth on lead guitar, Travis ‘Faceless Freak’ Johnson on bass, Randy ‘War Machine’ Weitzel on rhythm guitar and rounding out the beats Kent Diimmel on drums. Masters of the craft lurking beyond the shadows of the erie set they bring it heavy, hard and loud each and every time.
Fan favorites from their Blood, Black Widow and Ritual eras with songs such as Blood, Adrenalize, Big Bad Wolf, Roots, Oh Lord, River of Fire, including Natural Born Sinner and The Fighter, worked their way back into the 13 song set list much to a warm reception from fans. To close out the evening, Brink takes to the top of her WHORE pulpit front and center. She reminds us to pay no attention to the negative perceptions of the world and to rise above it with love. As her inspiring speech comes to a climax, balloons and confetti descend upon the crowd and the final song plays with emence crowd participation.
